Setting the Anchor: Lazuardi Ibnu Sina - Kendari

The observations documented in this log were conducted at the Lazuardi Ibnu SIna - Kendari, which graciously served as my primary cooperating school during my SEA Teacher program experience. This school provided the vital real-world setting to observe effective teaching methodologies and classroom management. The environment at Lazuardi allowed me to witness the daily currents of instruction within a dynamic elementary classroom in another country. My observations here provide a foundational perspective on established pedagogical methods and school environment.

Teaching Methods Used

During my classroom observations, I noticed that the teachers at Lazuardi Ibnu Sina Kendari commonly use the lecture method in delivering lessons, especially when introducing new topics and explaining concepts. Discussions are also incorporated to encourage student participation and understanding. In addition, teachers use interactive and student-centered activities such as questioning, group activities, presentations, and hands-on tasks to make learning more engaging and meaningful for students.

Authentic Assessment Used

The teachers used authentic assessment by evaluating students through class participation, group activities, presentations, performances, and hands-on tasks. Students were encouraged to apply their knowledge and skills in meaningful activities instead of relying solely on written examinations. These assessment practices allowed teachers to better observe students’ understanding, creativity, collaboration, communication skills, and overall engagement during the learning process.
