History

CNSC as a premier higher education institution in the Bicol Region.

The Camarines Norte State College shall provide higher and advanced studies in the field of education, arts and sciences, economics, health, engineering, management, finance, accounting, business and public administration, fisheries, agriculture, natural resources development and management and ladderized courses. It shall also respond to research, extension and production service adherent to progressive leadership towards sustainable development.

Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) traces its beginnings to the establishment of Camarines Norte High School in Daet in 1920. The school later became Camarines Norte National High School before it was officially transformed into a state college through Republic Act No. 7352 in 1992, signed by President Corazon Aquino. This act unified several educational institutions in the province, including the Abaño Pilot Elementary School, which was renamed as the Abaño Campus. Known as one of the most historic parts of the institution, the Abaño Campus continues to be a key component of CNSC’s academic growth, primarily serving as the home for education programs and teacher training.

At present, CNSC operates several campuses throughout Camarines Norte, each designed to cater to specific academic and community needs:

Main Campus (Daet): The central administrative hub housing the College of Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Business and Public Administration, Computing and Multimedia Studies, and the Graduate School.
Abaño Campus (Daet): Dedicated to teacher education and pedagogy programs.
College of Trades and Technology (Jose Panganiban): Offers industrial and technical education.
Ret. Judge Antonio C. Entienza Campus (Sta. Elena): Expands education programs to students in the northern areas of the province.
College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Labo): Focused on agriculture, forestry, and environmental sciences.
College of Fisheries, Aquatic Sciences, and Technology (Mercedes): Concentrates on marine and aquatic studies, promoting sustainable fisheries and environmental conservation through research and training aligned with the province’s rich coastal resources.

Overall, these campuses embody CNSC’s dedication to providing accessible and high-quality education. Through its mission of instruction, research, and community service, the institution continues to drive regional and national development, empowering students to become responsible contributors to both local and global progress.

Teaching System/
Grading System

The CNSC Grading System operates on a dual approach to accommodate its diverse academic offerings. For the higher education programs within the College of Education, assessment protocols are governed by the CNSC Student Manual, employing a numerical, semester-based system where performance is evaluated across major exams, research, and classroom participation, with a general passing mark of 75%. Conversely, the Abano Laboratory School (ALS), which serves as the training ground for basic education teachers, strictly adheres to the national DepEd K-12 Curriculum and its standardized grading system (DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015), ensuring a seamless transition for pre-service teachers into the professional standards of the public school system.

Cultural Profile/Practices of the Institution

Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) proudly upholds a vibrant culture that celebrates student talent, unity, and Filipino identity through various institutional events and traditions.

The Annual Intercollegiate Meet is one of the most anticipated occasions in CNSC, where student-athletes from different campuses gather to compete in diverse sports. This event strengthens school spirit, encourages physical fitness, and builds camaraderie among students through friendly yet passionate competition.

The CNSC Hayag Festival is a lively celebration of artistic expression, showcasing students’ creativity through contests in singing, dancing, and visual arts. It fosters unity, pride, and appreciation for culture while highlighting the diverse talents within the CNSC community.

Organized by the College of Education, the MIKKS App Humanus event promotes cultural awareness and creativity through storytelling, music, and stage performances. This activity emphasizes the importance of Filipino values, heritage, and identity, using the MIKKS app as an innovative tool for meaningful engagement.

Meanwhile, Daluyong, a campus-wide celebration held during Buwan ng Wika, focuses on promoting Filipino culture and language. Through cultural performances, language-centered activities, and creative showcases, this event deepens students’ sense of nationalism and unity, reflecting CNSC’s commitment to nurturing both intellect and cultural pride.
