My Personal Voyage to Education
My name is Kristel P. Lopez, and my educational life has been a long, fascinating voyage—a journey that led me from the familiar shores of the past into the vast and rewarding ocean of education. I currently navigate the tides as a dedicated pre-service teacher in the Bachelor of Elementary Education program at Camarines Norte State College (CNSC).
My roots run deep in Camarines Norte. I grew up in P-1 Brgy. Camambugan, Daet, supported and guided by my wonderful parents, Rosita P. Lopez and Fernando S. Lopez, alongside my siblings, Katherine, Jaykarl, Kaycelyn, and Jerome. My educational path has been consistent, beginning with F. Baldovino Elementary School and continuing through Camarines Norte National High School and Camarines Norte Senior High School. By the grace of the Lord, I have been blessed enough to experience academic success throughout my schooling, including being listed as a Dean's Lister in college.
The most significant turn in my journey was a shift in course: I began my college life aiming to build structures in the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. However, just as the ocean currents change, so did my calling. I discovered that my true passion wasn't in designing beams and bridges, but in designing the foundations of young lives. This transition was a profound recognition that my greatest impact could be made in the classroom.
Beyond the classroom, I find my harmony in the service of the Lord. Aside from teaching in our outreach programs, I have the privilege of serving as a vocalist and instrumentalist in my church's Praise and Worship (P&W) team. I love singing and playing musical instruments, and this creative outlet is more than a hobby. It teaches me about rhythm, teamwork, and finding the perfect tone—skills that I carry directly into the classroom to create a balanced and engaging learning environment, striving always to honor Him in my work.
Now, as a pre-service teacher, I view my vocation as an ongoing expedition. I am committed to exploring the uncharted potential in every young student and fostering a classroom where discovery is limitless. This blog, Tidal Pages, is my personal logbook, capturing the lessons learned and the knowledge encountered as I prepare to guide future generations with both dedication and creativity.

The moment I chose education, I realized that I was still building—only this time, I was helping shape minds, dreams, and futures. I believe that the classroom is like an ocean filled with endless opportunities for learning, growth, and discovery. As a future educator, I see myself not simply as someone who gives knowledge, but as someone who guides students as they navigate their own learning journeys with confidence, curiosity, and purpose.
I believe that learning happens best when students are actively involved in the process. Inspired by the ideas of Jean Piaget and Jerome Bruner, I value learning experiences that encourage students to explore, ask questions, share ideas, and connect lessons to their own experiences. In my classroom, I want students to feel encouraged to discover knowledge for themselves while knowing that they are supported and guided along the way. I believe that every learner has unique strengths and great potential waiting to be nurtured.
At the same time, I believe that learning becomes more meaningful when it is shared with others. Guided by Lev Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory, I aim to create a classroom environment where collaboration, respect, and teamwork are encouraged. I want my students to learn not only from me, but also from one another through discussions, group activities, and shared experiences. By building a supportive learning community, students can grow academically while also developing empathy, communication, and respect for different perspectives.
My commitment to teaching is also deeply connected to my faith and values. I believe that teaching is an act of service that requires patience, compassion, understanding, and genuine care for every learner. Beyond academic growth, I hope to inspire students to believe in themselves, recognize their worth, and use their talents positively. As a future teacher, I aspire to create a classroom where students feel safe, valued, encouraged, and motivated to reach their fullest potential.
